If the footing is on plastic soil, water will accumulate around the building on top of the soil. When temperatures change, the water expands and contracts and will cause cracks in the foundation wall. Sometimes when the soil around your home begins to settle, it will actually cause your house to sink slightly. Because the house is then sitting lower than the surrounding ground, gravity will cause water to pool up under the foundation. This causes the foundation and footing to sink.
Many foundation repair companies simply attach an additional footing to the outside of the foundation, hoping that it supports the sinking house. It typically does not, however. This footing can continue sinking with the house as well, and it typically cracks and breaks off.
EHM + Foundation Solutions creates piers with structural blocks directly under the foundation wall and eliminates this problem all together. The structural blocks are pushed into the ground until the soil is completely saturated, creating a firm and stable root for the foundation, preventing future settlement. EHM makes your home level again and brings it back to its original position using our unified piering system.
